GENOVA 60′

The revolution of the 60s in Genoa will be the protagonist of GENOVA ’60, a grand exhibition taking place from 14 April to 31 July 2022 in the Teatro del Falcone at Palazzo Reale in Genoa.
The exhibition is promoted by Palazzo Reale (with the support of the Ministry of Culture), curated by Alessandra Guerrini and Luca Leoncini with the participation of Benedetto Besio, Luisa Chimenz, Leo Lecci and Elisabetta Papone. The project’s objective is to present an exploration of the great transformations that occurred in Genoa in the 60s of the 20thcentury, a decade of profound social and economic changes due to the raise of new ideas and cultural stimuli, which have also accelerated the production of visual arts.
Among architecture, art, design, and photography, the show is a stimulating journey into an era of renewed existential energies and visions made visible by some of the greatest Genoese photographers active in those years. The display will also include architectural drawings, design furnishings, advertising graphics, industrial objects, as well as paintings and sculptures by artists such as Lucio Fontana, Andy Warhol, Mimmo Rotella, Vico Magistretti, Gio Ponti, Franco Albini, Angelo Mangiarotti, and Eugenio Carmi. Gianfranco Zappettini will be featured in the show.
GENOVA 60’ will be accompanied by a scientific catalogue published by Silvana Editoriale including essays and factsheets of the works on display.
