There is No Time to Enjoy the Sun is the title of an exhibition organised in the context of Progetto XXI, in collaboration with Fondazione Morra Greco and curated by Federico Del Vecchio. The exhibition will present a group show of local artists born between the 1980s and the 1990s. It constitutes the first stage of “Sistema Campania per l’arte contemporanea” (Campania System for Contemporary Art), a wider project aiming at giving space to the voices of contemporary art in the Campania region.
“In the beginning is energy”, the concept that drives the exhibition’s narrative, is based on George Bataille’s theory according to which the sun radiates on the Earth more energy than the planet can absorb. The energy in excess translates, on the one hand, into the effervescence of life and, on the other hand, if this excess is not limited, into destruction (Georges Bataille, La parte maledetta preceduto da La nozione di dépense, Bollati Boringhieri, Torino, 2015). Such cosmic energy is the focus of art, which becomes a sort of catalyst to read the present and build the future.
