OGR Torino presents Cold As You Are, a new work by Rebecca Moccia commissioned to the artist on the occasion of the 27th edition of Luci d’Artista and new entry in the Constellations section of the project with which the City of Turin has been illuminating Turin’s winter with contemporary art installations since 1998.
The site-specific intervention by Rebecca Moccia, winner of the OGR Award 2023 promoted by the Fondazione per l’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea CRT, is a new declination in the form of a video installation of the project Cold As You Are (2021, ongoing). Intimate and public scenes, both previously unseen and from the artist’s archive, filmed with a thermal camera, are combined in a sequence that mixes different elements and narratives.
The thermal image, which has recurred in the artist’s work since 2021, often appears in relation to nonhuman subjects, questioning its functional and informational use to narrate sensitive aspects of situations beyond the visible, contributing to the creation of emotional perception.
