Pienovuoto, Massimo Vitali

Forte di Belvedere is focusing on photography with a title evocative and relevant as always: Ieri, oggi, domani. Italia autoritratto allo specchio (Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow. A self-portrait of Italy in the Mirror). An initiative of the Museo Novecento, the project was created under the artistic direction of Sergio Risaliti, Director of the museum, with the collaboration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Fondazione Alinari per la Fotografia.
The project represents two major photographic exhibitions presented across the three floors of the Buonatalenti building in Florence.
On 25th June, the exhibitions open to the public at the same time as Italiae. Dagli Alinari ai maestri della fotografia contemporanea (Italiae. From Alinari to Master of Contemporary Photography), curated by Rita Scartoni and Luca Criscenti, and Pienovuoto by Massimo Vitali, curated by Sergio Risaliti.
The latter highlights the work of the great photographer Massimo Vitali, known throughout the world for his ‘metaphysical’ shots. The photographs in the exhibition are a portrait of our contemporary society revealing solitudes, multitudes, full spaces, assemblages and empty spaces, where nature or cities seem to have isolated a few survivors in the midst of grandiose, sublime architecture and landscapes that still, unchallenged, dominate our lives.
Ieri, oggi, domani. Italia autoritratto allo specchio is supported by the City of Florence and organised by MUS.E, with special thanks to Fondazione CR Firenze and Unicoop Firenze, in collaboration with Mazzoleni, London – Torino.
