New world record for Alberto Burri

New record yesterday night at Sotheby’s London during the Contemporary evening Art sale. Alberto Burri’s Sacco e Rosso, one of the auction’s premiere lots, sold for £9,109,000, setting another auction record for the Italian artist.
The work Sacco e Rosso is to Alberto Burri what the Fine di Dio is to Lucio Fontana, what the monumental Achrome is to Piero Manzoni, and what the Anthropometry is to Yves Klein. The masterpiece is one of the latest burlap works realized by the Italian master and the biggest ever made.
