Mazzoleni for Milano Fashion Week , 2025

Mazzoleni took part in the Fabiana Filippi’s presentation of the Autumn/Winter 2025 collection. The artistic practice of Alberto Burri, a master and leading figure of the Italian Informal Art movement, inspired Fabiana Filippi’s aesthetic journey. This exploration delves into the vibrant synergy between artworks and garments, transformed into a modern lexicon.

It is a reinterpretation of art through design that envisions a woman of sophisticated beauty, capable of expressing her personality through a desirable wardrobe that offers endless possibilities for interpretation. The essential materials used in Burri’s textured works are transformed into creations. The jute and mending elements from his Informal works inspire a continuous evolutionary search in knitwear, an expression of artisanal mastery. The textures of the garments reach their peak in the cracklé coating, a finish that replicates the “Grande Cretto,” giving new life to cotton jersey. The tactile juxtapositions and assemblages present in the works of the Umbrian artist are translated into complete layered looks featuring fine cashmere, elegant double-face wools, soft shearling, printed sparkling sequins, and three-dimensional tweeds. The interaction with art extends to the color palette, guided by the master’s artistic practice: lacquered red inspired by the plastics used in the “Combustioni,” organic shades derived from jute, and neutral tones such as charcoal and the kaolin white of the Cretti.

Presented at Milan Fashion Week, the looks were displayed alongside a selection of Alberto Burri’s works, courtesy of the Mazzoleni Gallery, London – Turin. This collection is deeply rooted in both Umbrian territoriality and the shared cultural vision between fashion and artistic avant-garde.
