Marinella Senatore (*1977) is internationally known for her public parades that combine dance, music, pop culture and activism and are created with people from the local population. Their large-scale parades, in which over seven million have already taken part in 23 countries, make new forms of community tangible. Contrary to the escalating logic of perfection, production and success, it is about the experience of a “common heartbeat”, as the artist says, and about “compensation on the street”. The exhibition shows works that Senatore developed from the DNA of her parades. Colorful drawings, collages, sculptures, videos and installations deal with (historical) protest cultures. The focus is on the body as something that is always public, individual and collective. It is a place of current crises and at the same time holds the potential for change and togetherness.
