Marinella Senatore. Something About You

Mazzoleni is pleased to announce SOMETHING ABOUT YOU, a solo exhibition by Marinella Senatore organised by BLITZ and curated by Sara Dolfi Agostini. The show will open on 3 March 2022 in Valletta, Malta.
SOMETHING ABOUT YOU brings together paintings, drawings, videos, a new site-specific sculpture, as well as Remember The First Time You Saw Your Name (2020), a public artwork that will occupy St George Square in Valletta for the entire duration of the exhibition. The artwork nostalgically evokes the Maltese custom of celebrating their community with festoons, “luminarie”, and light installations during village festivals and annual events.
On the opening day, BLITZ launched an open call for a public performance with The School of Narrative Dance, a large-scale participatory project created by Senatore that has been experienced by over 6 million participants in 24 countries to date. The SOND performance took place on June 30th 2022.
The exhibition SOMETHING ABOUT YOU is a tribute to museum visitors as well as casual onlookers – even those who have never set foot in an art space before – who come across the sculptures in the public space or will find inspiration in the participatory project. Senatore puts the audience at the centre of her artistic action, opening a dialogue with them.
