Marinella Senatore, Give Your Daughters Difficult Names

Marinella Senatore will display her luminous sculpture Give Your Daughters Difficult Names (2019) at LUCREZIA. Homage for an Anti-Heroine, an exhibition curated by Nicola Bigliardi and Sveva d’Antonio that will take place at Palazzo Fontanelli Sacrati in Reggio Emilia until 19 December 2021, featuring several works by contemporary artists. Through a reinterpretation of the traditional luminarie typical of Southern Italy and the American flag’s chromatic palette – the work was previously exhibited in New York, – Senatore highlights the relevance of themes, such as personal identity, female emancipation, and equality. A workshop with the same title will be organized on 4 December in the presence of the artist. Focussing her practice on participation, Senatore will have the opportunity to observe with the public the relationship between the individual, the body, and the community.
