As part of the 2025 Jubilee celebrations, Marinella Senatore presents the project ‘Io Contengo Moltitudini’ (I Contain Multitudes), a striking 6-meter-tall light installation created in collaboration with the Rebibbia Prison community.
The work was unveiled by Pope Francis on 26 December, coinciding with the opening of the Holy Door of the “Padre Nostro” Church, Rebibbia Prison, a ceremony chosen by the Pope as part of the beginning of the Jubilee celebrations. This project, curated by Cristiana Perrella and, presented by the Dicastery of Culture and Education, continues the Holy See Pavilion initiativeat this year’s Venice Biennale, which focused on the theme of human rights and marginalised communities.
When discussing ‘Io Contengo Moltitudini’ (I Contain Multitudes) Senatore notes: “The selected phrases, gathered with members of the community, are powerful expressions of hope that intertwine into a shared narrative, making the artwork a space for meeting and sharing. Light has the power to transform a place into a special space where extraordinary things can happen.”
As a continuation of the project, Marinella Senatore has also designed this year’s official Christmas card for the Holy See’s Dicastery for Culture and Education.
Marinella Senatore says: “I was honored to be invited to design this year’s Christmas card by the Dicastery for Culture and Education of the Vatican. This invitation came as a continuation of my engagement with the community of Rebibbia through the project ‘Io Contengo Moltitudini. The design for the Christmas card, carries forward this theme of unity and collective growth. It embodies the spirit of mutual support and shared responsibility that are central to fostering community, resonating deeply with the values upheld by the Vatican during this Jubilee. The artwork encapsulates the spirit of unity and renewal, celebrating the season’s message of togetherness.”
