La Luce del Nero (The Light of Black), a show curated by Bruno Corà, will take place at the Ex Seccatoi del Tabacco, one the exhibition venues – along with Palazzo Albizzini – of Fondazione Burri in Città di Castello. The exhibition offers the public a multisensory experience of the colour black.
Among the artists of the second post-war period, Alberto Burri is the one who has used the colour black more extensively than any other. This increased in intensity from the 70s and 80s and culminated with painting in black the entire structure of the Ex Seccatoi del Tabacco, the industrial buildings that are now a museum dedicated to his oeuvre.
Along with Burri, other artists have created works dominated by black, such as Agnetti, Bassiri, Bendini, Castellani, Fontana, Hartung, Kounellis, Lo Savio, Morris, Nevelson, Nunzio, Parmiggiani, Schifano, Soulages, Tàpies. Each artist, with their different methods, intentions, and values, are able to immerse the viewer into a wide range of feelings and perceptions.
