Group Exhibition: Lee Ufan, Claude Viallat and Gianfranco Zappettini

Mazzoleni is pleased to share Group Exhibition: Lee Ufan, Claude Viallat and Gianfranco Zappettini, currently on view at STANDING PINE, Tokyo.
From the 1960s through the 1970s, avant-garde art entered a period of profound transformation, as diverse artistic movements gained momentum across different regions.
Within this context, working within the framework of Pittura Analitica (Analytical Painting), Gianfranco Zappettini has pursued the relationship between the structure of the pictorial plane, thought and the process of making.
His Tele Sovrapposte series brings this investigation into focus, as multiple canvases layered over one another and marked by repeated graphite strokes generate a complex system that articulates the relationship between visibility and concealment, presence and absence.
Through this stratified approach, painting unfolds as both a physical and perceptual field, where what is hidden becomes integral to what is seen.
The works of the other artists are presented within this shared field of inquiry, while maintaining distinct languages and perspectives.
