Mazzoleni Torino is pleased to announce Ti ho visto (I Saw You), Massimo Vitali’s second exhibition at Mazzoleni, opening on Tuesday 12 April 2022.
In the summer 1994, Massimo Vitali takes his first beach photograph in Marina di Pietrasanta. This marks the beginning of a successful series, which over the decades has consolidated him as one of the leading photographers on the international scene. The exhibition covers three decades of activity, ranging from historical photographs to the most recent shots, encompassing urban landscapes as well as natural and wild sceneries.
In Vitali’s work, the public and the private spheres collide, alternating gatherings and crowds with empty spaces. This becomes the raw material to be shaped by the artist. His gaze creates stories, elaborates them, observes them, records them, eventually sharing his voyeuristic gaze with the viewer: the privilege of seeing without being seen.
