The international tour of Cantica21. Dante Alighieri and the Italian Artists kicks off in Shanghai. The exhibition features 5 new works dedicated to “the Supreme Poet” on the 7th centenary of his death. The works were produced for Cantica21. Italian Contemporary Art Everywhere, a project promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, as well as the Ministry of Culture.
The winning 5 works of the “Dante” section are: The Hidden Doctrine by Silvia Camporesi; Monte Purgatorio by Leone Contini; Ciacco by Valentina Furian; Bestiary of the Other World by Marta Roberti; and A SALIRE A LE STELLE – To Climb to the Stars by Marinella Senatore. The selection of all works was based on their ability to represent Dante’s work through contemporary languages.
The exhibition is being held at the Pearl Art Museum and is part of the project titled Encounter of Imagination: Dialogue between The Divine Comedy and Classic of Mountains and Seas.
