The fifth edition of Art Site Fest starts tomorrow, 19 September. The festival of eleven exhibitions curated by Domenico Maria Papa, which this year benefits from the curatorial consultancy of Michele Bramante, proposes a fascinating journey through the visual arts, music, writing, with shows and events hosted in places not normally dedicated to contemporary art; historic houses, parks and gardens will offer unusual and evocative artistic context.
Mazzoleni is pleased to collaborate with this event by displaying the works of Salvatore Astore and Shigeru Saito.
Salvatore Astore presents Speciazione, an installation of sculptural groups in stainless steel – some made site-specific – inside the Gardens of the Reggia di Venaria, which will enrich the exhibition with a dialogue between Natural and Artificial, sculpture and nature, materials and landscape.
The project is designed in relation to the large vegetal scenes of the Royal Palace and, as in the past, the artist is called to interpret a suggestive space through his intervention via the presence of metal forms within a welcoming Giardino all’italiana. “Speciation”, a term taken from scientific debate, alludes to the natural and animal property of giving life to new living species following evolution.
Works by Shigeru Saito will be exhibited in a group show at the Palazzina di Caccia of Stupinigi, open to the public from Friday 20 September, 6 pm. The exhibition path winds through the stately rooms of the Palazzina, and shows the results of the research of 12 artists who investigate the potential of sculpture and installation, looking at traditional forms and productions as well as contemporary languages.
