34th Bienal de São Paulo – travelling exhibition

In April of 2022, the Fundação Bienal launched the traveling exhibitions program of the 34th Bienal de São Paulo – Though it’s dark, still I sing, an exhibition that brought 700 thousand visitors to the Bienal Pavilion and the network of partner institutions between 2020 and 2021.
For over a decade, the traveling exhibitions program has taken highlights from the official exhibition in São Paulo to cities throughout Brazil and the world in the years that follow this major event in the city. For this year’s edition, Jacopo Crivelli Visconti, general curator of the 34th Bienal, organized these exhibitions around statements – objects or immaterial elements used by the curatorship to group works and artists together, creating thematic strands in order to stimulate a diverse range of new interpretations and readings.

The tour in São José do Rio Preto is another result of the long-term partnership between the Fundação Bienal de São Paulo and Sesc – Serviço Social do Comércio, established since the first program of traveling exhibitions, at the 29th Bienal. Visitors to Sesc Rio Preto will find works that integrate groups related to two different statements. Among the works  featured, Marinella Senatore’s light sculpture Nos erguemos ao levantar outras pessoas (We Rise by Lifting Others), 2021.
