Melissa McGill, Marea. New York Times

The New York Times highlighted McGill’s independent public participatory installation during the Venice Biennale. Marea featured 100 paintings on cotton sheets hung on traditional laundry lines in Corte Nova (Castello district). The work served as an exploration of the Venetian lagoon and a protest against mass tourism and rising sea levels.
