Maurizio Bertinetti

The artist and collector was born in Turin on June 17, 1955. Son of refined and sensible collectors he met, in 1968, Lucio Fontana by whom he will remain profoundly influenced. He would complete his diploma in artistic disciplines and, in the favourable international Turin scene, met artists such as Man Ray, Meret Oppenheim, Dorothea Tannig, Jean Genet, Allen Jones, Sol Lewitt and Andy Warhol.

In 1978 he participated, with Michelangelo Pistoletto, in the exhibition “L’Arte assume la Religione/ Divisione e moltiplicazione dello specchio”, at Galleria Giorgio Persano in Turin; in 1979 he met Giulio Paolini who appreciated his work exhibited at Galleria Tucci Russo in Turin. His work aroused the interest of Mario Merz, who supported him in his subsequent exhibition, along with Alighiero Boetti and Luciano Fabro. The same year, with the support of the Cristian Stein Gallery, he illustrates the volume of Carlo Tivolo “Pensieri Temporali”. During the following years, Bertinetti exhibited in several private galleries and in numerous museums in Italy and abroad, among which the SierKunst Museum, Gent, il Pmmk, Ostenda, l’Het Museum Voor Schoene Kunstern, Gent, l’European Academy of Visual Art, Maastricht, Le Tutesall Ministère des Affaire Culturelles in Lussemburg, the G.D.B., Toronto, El Espacio de arte Contemporanea, Valencia, il Curtel Conde Duque, Madrid, il Palau Sant Jordi, Barcelona, Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome, Reggia di Caserta, Villa Marangon in Trento, Pinacoteca Provinciale in Bari Museo Casabianca di Malo, Palazzo Ruini in Reggio Emilia, Castello di Corneliano d’Adda, Museo civico di Terracina, Scuderie Palazzo Aldobrandini di Frascati, Centro Espositivo Rocca Paolina di Perugia, Galleria d’Arte Moderna Villa Seregna in Bologna, the Torre Viscontea in Lecco, Civico Museo d’Arte Contemporanea Castello di Masnago Varese, Museo Archeologico di Aosta, Museo d’Arte Contemporanea Masedu di Sassari, Palazzo della Ragione di Mantova as long as decennial presence at Art Basel. He lives and work between Turin, Paris and London.
